LCS is proud to present a fresh look for our new Mercedes-Benz trucks. These trucks boast a contemporary, yet subtle, branding that is sure to turn heads as they make their way across the country.
As we celebrate our new look and embark on this new chapter, we pause to remember and honour our beloved and cherished Executive Chairman, Oom Awie Britz. His leadership and guidance have taken us through some of the toughest times and his legacy will live on forever.
We are grateful to the Lord for carrying us through the highs and lows, for allowing us to remember and celebrate Oom Awie, and for providing us with the strength and courage to move forward.
The new branding marks a new beginning for our company and our team. We are confident that with the same resilience and fortitude that has been instilled in us, we will be able to overcome any challenge that comes our way.
Give us a hoot when you see us out on the road in memory of Oom Awie, and a salute to our new season.
Our truck drivers undergo safety training and orientation. Here are some road safety tips for everyone:
• Stay healthy and well-rested
• Be sober and be vigilant
• Fasten your seatbelt
• Keep a safe following distance
• Obey the speed limit
• Do not use cell phones when driving
• Be Aware of the "No-go-zones"
• Slow down in work zones
• Ensure the vehicle is in a roadworthy condition
• If a breakdown occurs, turn hazard lights on and get the vehicle to a safe location.
Leave sooner, drive slower, live longer.
Please take note that LCS will never ask you to pay money as part of a job application. Neither does LCS provide any personal loans and we will never ask you to make payment of any upfront fees.
Scammers may use fake documents, request personal details, or request unusual payments methods. REMEMBER, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Always be on high alert of unusual requests.
From all of us at LCS to all of you, have a very Happy Festive Season!
May this time of year shine light on your blessings and bring new ones in 2023.
It is with deep sadness that we express our condolences at the untimely passing of Gabriel Gerhardus Britz. The LCS family grieves together at the loss of our beloved Executive Chairman, our captain, and brother in Christ.
Our hearts go out to his family during this tremendously difficult time, as we keep them in our thoughts and prayers.
Oom Awie (as many of us fondly knew him) was often heard saying that LCS is not his business, but that it belongs to the Lord, and he leaves it in the hands of the Lord.
“Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labour in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain” - Psalm 127:1
In planning his retirement, Oom Awie and his wife already relocated to Melkbosstrand, where they spent most of their time, while gradually withdrawing from the day-to-day operations of the business. He was very meticulous in putting a capable Executive Management Committee together, that would ensure the continued sustainability of the business.
Oom Awie was a wise mentor, a leader and a friend, who leaves a legacy behind, that we have the honour to continue building together. In this way, he touched many of our lives and the LCS EXCO is committed to continue doing so, for many generations to come!
We rest assured that even in this moment, the love of God that Oom Awie shared with his family, friends, employees and business partners, continues to live in our hearts and is multiplied through our prayers and our actions.
On 07 October 2022, LCS and Bay Shipping celebrated the opening of our newly revived LCS Bayhead Road facility. We feel deeply humbled and thankful for Uncle Angus Buchan and Pastor Kevin Oellermann from Shalom Ministries, who joined the celebrations to bless the new facility.
Under the stewardship of Tokkie Pieterse, Justin Royal and Steve Larkins, the immediate focus is to button down the Bayhead Road operations in Durban and to return the site to its former glory.
We are thankful to God for this opportunity and His protection throughout our journey. We trust that this is just the beginning of many more successful years to come!
YJL is proud to announce that they now own one of Mercedes-Benz' 'limited edition' models. Daimler Trucks and Buses celebrated their "Diamond Anniversary", 60 years of operations in South Africa and kicked off by announcing special 'limited edition' models, based on Mercedes-Benz Actros 2645LS and 2652LS models.
This new addition to the YJL family arrived at their depot in Germiston on Monday the 16th of May and will take it's first trip down to Durban on Friday the 20th of May.
Only 60 of these trucks will ever be produced! The models have been enhanced with various 60th edition features and fitted with high-quality accessories.
These limited edition trucks are already sold out and YJL couldn't be happier to add this special addition to their fleet.
"Another milestone for Yellow Jersey Logistics. The last 15 years have been an absolute journey. I've been truly blessed by my Maker with good people, good suppliers, and exceptional clients." - Freek van Tonder
On 27 May 2021, LCS and YJL celebrated the recent acquisition of Yellow Jersey Logistics (YJL).
The new logo reflects the union of the two businesses, which share the same core values and culture, as well as the same approach towards service excellence and customer satisfaction!
The LCS Group is always looking to expand its service offering and diversify its customer base in the supply chain and logistics industry. To this end, We are very pleased to announce that LCS has recently concluded the acquisition of 100% of the shares of Yellow Jersey Logistics (YJL). This newly formed partnership positions both YJL and the LCS Group of companies, for exciting new developments and growth opportunities into the future!
The LCS Group has a 40-year track record, providing end-to-end supply chain services to its customers, predominantly within the bulk mining and minerals industry. Yellow Jersey Logistics on the other hand, has a proud 15-year track record, providing container transport solutions to the clearing and forwarding industry, specialising in general freight transport. This partnership sees the union of two great businesses, which share the same core values and culture, as well as the same approach towards service excellence and customer satisfaction.
We can state with confidence, that this acquisition will only positively influence LCS’s existing brand, its operations, its customer centric focus, and our commitment towards our employees and the communities where we operate. We believe that this collaboration will create new opportunities, built on the core strengths of both companies, and the economies of scale benefits that are on offer.
We would like to provide our customer base with the assurance that there will be no changes to the YJL management structure and operational teams, and that all parties are committed to a smooth transition.
We are excited by the prospects of adding YJL to the LCS Group and we look forward to embarking on this journey, the LCS Way!
