Senior Fleet Controller
We are seeking a highly organised and results-driven Senior Fleet Controller to oversee and manage Transport Service Providers (TSPs) within a subcontracted bulk transport environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, fleet compliance, contractor performance, cost control, safety adherence, and service excellence across the transport network.
This role requires a strong understanding of South African bulk side tipper logistics within the mining industry, fleet operations, subcontractor management, and transport compliance regulations.

Key Requirements
Fleet & Subcontractor Management
Manage and coordinate Transport Service Providers (TSPs) to ensure optimal fleet utilisation and operational performance.
Ensure all subcontractors comply with company standards, contractual obligations, and customer requirements. Monitor fleet availability, vehicle allocation, route performance, and turnaround times.
Ensure all fleet documentation, licences, PDPs, roadworthy certificates, tracking systems, and insurance requirements remain valid and up to date.
Oversee onboarding and compliance processes for new subcontractors and fleet additions.
Operational Control & Performance Management
Monitor daily transport operations to ensure service delivery targets are achieved.
Analyse operational performance, identify inefficiencies, and implement corrective actions.
Track subcontractor KPIs, including volumes moved, revenue generated, diesel consumption, and route profitability.
Investigate incidents, accidents, and operational deviations, ensuring accurate reporting and record-keeping.
Provide regular operational feedback and reporting to management.
Health, Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with all transport legislation, health and safety standards, and customer site requirements.
Verify that all drivers and subcontractors adhere to safety procedures and PPE requirements.
Maintain accurate safety files, inductions, and compliance records.
Promote a strong safety culture within the fleet and subcontractor environment.
Financial & Administrative Control
Monitor operational costs and assist in improving fleet profitability.
Ensure PODs are submitted within required timelines and resolve related queries efficiently.
Support revenue tracking, subcontractor account management, and cost control initiatives.
Maintain accurate operational records and reporting systems.
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors, customers, and internal departments.
Conduct regular performance reviews and operational meetings with TSPs.
Resolve operational concerns professionally and efficiently.
Provide leadership and guidance within a high-pressure transport environment.
Minimum Requirements
Diploma or Certificate in Transport Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in fleet control, transport operations, or subcontractor management within the bulk transport/logistics industry.
Sound knowledge of South African road transport legislation and compliance requirements.
Experience working with transport management systems and fleet tracking platforms.
Advanced Microsoft Excel and reporting skills.
